Established in 2011 by The Digital Hub, The Future Creators Programme delivered with National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and H2 Learning returns for the 2015/16 academic year.
In recent weeks, the team behind the Future Creators programme have interviewed young people from the local community for a place on the after-school programme. Fifty young people, aged from 13 to 16 years old, had applied to participate and on Tuesday, 13th October 2015 twenty-six successful applicants attended their first Future Creators class.
The Future Creators programme aims to equip young people from Dublin 8 with digital skills, including coding, app development, digital photography, filmmaking, and website development. The programme also works to enhance their exposure to STEM subjects and to build their confidence, so they may consider pursuing a career related to digital skills.
The programme participants will attend classes twice a week, mostly at The Digital Hub and some at NCAD, until June 2016. There will also be some field trips, workshops and seminars designed to give the young people an insight into the Irish technology and digital media industry and careers available in it, from real people, working across the sector.
