The Digital Hub to Host Irish Leg of Global Climate Change Hackathon
The Geeklist #hack4good 0.6 hackathon is taking place in cities throughout the world from 12th to 14th September. The focus of the hackathon – in the lead-up to the UN Climate Summit – will be climate change. The initiative will see over 3,000 software engineers, designers, developers, entrepreneurs and innovators gather in over 45 global cities, from Kraków to Kathmandu, to hack against climate change by building apps, products and technologies to solve 15 key global climate and environment challenges.
The Irish leg of the event is being hosted at The Digital Hub in the Liberties area of Dublin 8. The Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA) – the government agency that manages The Digital Hub – is a silver sponsor of the event.
Commenting in advance, Ruth Flynn, Client Services Manager with DHDA, said: “The Digital Hub Development Agency is delighted to be involved in the #hack4good climate change hackathon. We know technology can play a huge role in finding innovative solutions for major global issues. As a hotbed for digital talent, The Digital Hub is the ideal location for such an ambitious and high-profile hackathon.”
The Dublin #hack4good hackathon on climate change will kick off in the Digital Depot building at The Digital Hub, Roe Lane, Dublin 8, at 7pm on Friday, 12th September, with presentations of prizes on Sunday, 14th September, at 5pm.
