The Digital Hub and Companies pick up IIA Dot IE Net Visionary Awards

The annual IIA Dot IE Net Visionary Awards were held on Friday, 26th September in Dublin and the Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA), alongside three companies based at The Digital Hub, picked up awards on the night.

The annual IIA Dot IE Net Visionary Awards were held on Friday, 26th September in Dublin and the Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA), alongside three companies based at The Digital Hub, picked up awards on the night.

 

Speaking at the awards, Gerry Macken, CEO of the Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA) said, “The Digital Hub is delighted to be awarded the ‘Very Best Place to be’ award, and we heartily congratulate our tenant companies, Maithu, Software Design and Eventbrite, on their awards.

“With 80 companies and almost 900 people working on The Digital Hub’s campus, we pride ourselves on understanding the needs of digital media and technology companies and facilitating acceleration through peer networking, mentoring, collaboration and support.”

The ‘Best Mobile Service or App for fast-moving Business (B2B)’ award was presented to Kerrill Thornhill of Maithu IT Solutions for Medical eGuides. Medical eGuides, or MEG for short, allows hospital staff and healthcare professional to access important clinical documentation on their Apple or Android phones and keep them updated via an easy to use Content Management System.

 

Paul Doherty and Gavin Doherty of Software Design picked up the ‘Best Web Developer for ingenious engineering and meticulous delivery’ award.  Software Design develop, build, deploy and manage high performance, scalable cross platform applications for web, mobile, desktop, server, cloud, distributed and embedded systems. Eventbrite received the ‘Most Indispensable Cloud Service for SMEs’ award.

The Digital Hub Development Agency received the ‘Very Best Place to be – Accelerator | Incubator | Space’ award. This criteria for this award was the nominated business space must show a true understanding of the culture and needs of Ireland’s thriving start-up community and provide dynamic environments for start-up and smaller businesses that facilitate peer networking and support, mentoring and foster collaboration.

Also, Silicon Republic CEO and editor-at-large Ann O’Dea was given the ‘Outstanding Contribution from an IIA Member Award’ for her work through the Women Invent Tomorrow campaign in highlighting the need for greater diversity in the technology industry and in particular encouraging young women to pursue STEM subjects in education and rewarding careers in technology and science. Silicon Republic is also based at The Digital Hub campus.

The Annual IIA Dot IE Net Visionary Awards, now in their 16th year, are a mainstay of the internet business calendar. Over the years, the awards have recognised the vision, entrepreneurship and innovation of leaders such as Michele Neylon, Eamon Leonard, Jerry Kennelly, Dylan Collins, Pat Phelan, Ray Nolan, Mark Little and many more.
