Technologist in Residence at The Digital Hub

Robotics Engineer, Patrick Lynch, takes up role of Technologist in Residence at The Digital Hub.

The Digital Hub’s has welcomed Patrick Lynch as its new technologist in residence. Lynch, who completed an undergraduate and masters degree in Trinity College Dublin in the Department of Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Biomedical Engineering, has most recently completing a PhD thesis on robotic grasping, and hopes to be awarded a doctoral degree later this year.

As a long-term resident of the Liberties are of Dublin 8, Patrick is looking forward to taking up the role of Technologist in Residence at The Digital Hub.

The residency, which commenced at the beginning of May, will see Patrick deploy sensors to collect a range of data relating to the urban environment of Dublin 8 and how the impact of people who live, work and visit the area.

The data will be made available to participants in The Digital Hub learning programmes and to the enterprise, research and artistic communities.  The data will also contribute to wider activities, for example, to monitor air quality and traffic across Dublin.

Over the course of his residency, Patrick will be running some events which will be open to citizen living and working in Dublin 8.  He will be seeking input on the types of urban living challenges residents would like to tackle with the help of data to help make choices and decision.
