Pocket Forests Baby Pear Workshop on 21/10/21

On Thursday, 21st of October from 12pm to 1.30pm, the Pocket Forests team will hold the third of their Thursday Workshops at The Digital Hub. The focus of this workshop is The Digital Hub’s iconic pear tree.

The Digital Hub’s pear tree is the oldest fruit bearing tree in Ireland – a pear tree that is can be found standing next to St. Patrick’s tower, whose claim to fame is that it is the oldest standing Smock Windmill in all of Europe. Every year the pear tree produces gorgeous blossom in spring, white frothy masses of them, and come autumn there is usually a crop of juicy pears. About the workshop

In the workshop attendees will learn how to help turn some of The Digital Hub pear seeds into trees using a Korean Natural Farming technique. They will also have a selection of seeds from street trees, and hints on the best city locations to forage for seeds so you can begin to let Dublin get its forest on. (All these trees would make their own forests of offspring if they weren’t planted in a city setting). So, if you like the sound of combining an old city tree with Korean Natural Farming fermentation come along and join Pocket Forests for their third Thursday workshop.

About The Digital Hub & Pocket Forest Partnership

The Digital Hub, in partnership with Pocket Forests, installed the Pocket Forests Tree Hub in their Dublin 8 campus. The Tree Hub is Ireland’s first native tree nursery in a city centre location. The nursery, which will see the planting of native Irish trees such as birch, rowan and alder, will serve as a distribution point for the planting of further trees around the Dublin 8 and greater Dublin area.
