Interview with Lisa Fallon winner of “The Digital Hub Award” at Kaleidoscope 2020
The winner of The Digital Hub Award at Kaleidoscope 2020 was “The Game” by Lisa Fallon a TU Dublin Creative Digital Media graduate.
The Game is a philosophical 3D hologram arcade installation that uses a homemade trapezoid hologram projector. We recently spoke with Lisa about her experience of building The Game, which you can see in full below.
Tell us a bit about yourself and the course?
My name is Lisa Fallon, I’m 22 years old and I’m a 2020 graduate of Creative Digital Media. Creative Digital Media is a dynamic course within TU Dublin which supplies all the practical, creative, and technical skills needed to succeed in the digital society and economy. This course allowed me to explore and develop many of my interests including film, animation, graphic design, and game development. In my spare time, I also like to draw, read, and study film and languages.
What did you build?
I built a 3D Hologram arcade installation that uses a homemade acrylic trapezoid hologram projector. It features a collection of different old school mini games and interactive visuals that take inspiration from the 80’s / 90’s as well as specific philosophies and concepts. I built this installation for my final year project in Creative Digital Media.
How you did you feel winning The Digital Hub Award?
I was thrilled and extremely grateful when I first heard that I had won The Digital Hub Award. I really appreciated that my hard work and dedication had been recognised as there were multiple challenges that I had to overcome throughout the duration of the project, especially in such unprecedented times.
In the future, I hope to develop more of my creative skills and continue to push myself outside of my comfort zone. I also hope to pursue a career that can allow me to gain more experience in the Creative Digital Media industry.
