‘Building Ireland’ TV programme features The Digital Hub’s St. Patrick’s Tower
Tune into Building Ireland on Friday, 28th October from 8:30pm on RTE One television to learn about Dublin’s 19th Century Distilleries, including the George Roe Whiskey Distillery, the site of which now forms part of The Digital Hub campus.
Friday’s episode of Building Ireland discovers Dublin’s distilleries including the George Roe Distillery, which at one point in time was the largest whiskey distillery in the world. They also cover the worst industrial accident in Victorian Dublin – the Liberties Whiskey fire of 1875.
The programme producers have animated St. Patrick’s Tower (A smock windmill that once formed part of the distillery), so viewers can see how it would have operated 250 years ago with its sails in place. This episode also features some wonderful pictures, points of information and shots of The Digital Hub campus from the air.
Other episodes in this fantastic series about Ireland’s building and engineering heritage are available on the RTE Player online.
