17-01-12 Best in Show participant Kevin Gaffney wins at London Short Film Festival |
Kevin Gaffney - a participant of our Best in Show programme from 2008 - is now one of the leading emerging artists from Ireland.
His latest success comes in the form of his film, entitled “An Oral Fixation”, which was given the Little White Lies Award from the London Short Film Festival, at the Institute of Contemporary Arts on 6th, January 2012.
Back in 2008 Kevin was graduating from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a BA in Fine Art. Since then his work has been nominated for many awards including the European League of Institute of the Arts, and the Grand Prix for the Sapporo Biennale Competition, Japan. He has also exhibited nationally and internationally in solo and group shows.
Speaking of Kevin’s success, Elaine Parsons, curator of the Best in Show series said “Kevin’s work ‘The Black Plum’ really stood apart when choosing pieces to exhibit in 2008. His extraordinary use of lighting and texture makes viewing compelling. I’m delighted for Kevin’s success to date and we hope that his experience of exhibiting in The Digital Hub in 2008 has helped him along the way.”
