Digital Hub supports Irish development aid organisation with focus on new media.

Connect-World

Connect-World is an Irish organisation, created and supported by the development aid community in Ireland, with a mandate to seek to increase the quantity and the type of coverage of international development issues in the media. Funded by sponsors, which include the Irish government and a range of the most significant development ngos, Connect-World located in The Digital Hub in 2006.

For Connect-World The Digtial Hub was the ideal location in which to establish its headquarters. Most of Connect-World’s sponsoring ngos are based in Dublin so The Digital Hub’s city centre location was very convenient. The Digital Hub’s enterprise cluster offers a range of unique facilities including fully equipped on-site meeting rooms and event spaces that an agency like Connect-World could utilise regularly.

Connect-World’s aim is to tell global development stories in new and creative ways through broadcast and new media so The Digital Hub’s focus on digital content and innovations was a perfect match. Offering a ready supplier and partner base with expertise on demand, The Digital Hub provides Connect-World and other companies an environment in which to innovate.

Connect-World recognises that Irish society is becoming more diverse and multi-cultural and so it was ideal to locate its office in the historic Liberties area of Dublin. This is where a cluster of new media businesses is growing, while at the same time supporting and working with the local community.

As a start-up, Connect-World was able to benefit from the informal support of the networks which exist, as well as from the availability of world-class suppliers.

Its website is central to its role as a resource for journalists who cover development issues. Having a range of suppliers on site, each with different expertise, offered an exceptional range of options. Equally, suppliers for graphic design and corporate identity were available immediately.
